AnnuitySpecs.com’s Indexed Sales & Market Report, 1st Quarter 2012 shows first quarter 2012 indexed annuity sales were $8071 million, compared with sales of $7115 million for the first quarter of 2011. First quarter indexed annuity sales were down nearly 3.00% when compared with the previous quarter, and up nearly 14.00% when compared with the same period last year.
Total 1Q2012 indexed annuity sales were $8,071,344,360.

The average agent commission was 6.52%.

Sales of indexed life for the first quarter of 2012 were $255 million, compared with sales of $191 million for the first quarter of 2011. First quarter indexed life sales were down over 20% when compared with the previous quarter, and up nearly 34% as compared to the same period last year. This quarter’s sales are only exceeded by the record level of sales in the fourth quarter of 2011.
