Winnebago, American Equity Investment Life make Fortune Top 100 list for growth

Two Iowa companies made this week’s Fortune list of the 100 fastest-growing companies. Winnebago Industries Inc. made the list for the third consecutive year, coming in at 67th. The other Iowa listing was American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. of West Des Moines at No. 91.
Fortune ranked companies based on their three-year profit, revenue and stock growth records. This year was the 19th edition of the list.
Winnebago’s three-year annual growth rate in earnings per share was 66 percent, Fortune reported. The company’s annual revenue growth rate was 24 percent, and it had an annual total return of 33 percent. The company ranked 33rd in earnings per share growth, 69th in revenue growth and 72nd in total return.
Fortune reported Winnebago’s revenue for the past four quarters at $953 million, with net income of $42 million in the same period.
American Equity Investment Life, a fixed-rate annuity insurer, has made the list three times. The $2.1 billion company posted net income of $142 million in the past four quarters, Fortune reported.
The company ranked 61st in revenue growth, with a three-year annual rate of 26 percent; 63rd in total return at 36 percent; and 88th in earnings per share growth with 27 percent annual growth.
Topping the list was Lannett Co. Inc., a Philadelphia-based pharmaceutical company.
