How Have the Annuity Issuers Really Been Doing?
October 24, 2017 by Allison Bell
Ameriprise Financial Inc. is about to start annuity issuers’ march into the third-quarter earnings season Tuesday, by releasing its latest results sometime around 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
Other “publicly traded insurers,” or companies with stock held by many public investors, will release their earnings over the next few weeks.

Just three months ago, annuity issuers still had to face questions about the possibility that the Trump administration might still end up implementing some relevant Obama-era financial services regulations roughly on schedule.
This time around, the Trump administration seems to be well on its way toward rolling back the Obama-era financial services regulations.
Annuity issuers are major users of bonds, derivatives and other financial instruments. The dominant themes for questions about the third quarter might be whether interest rates will ever go back up; whether the bond market is really overheated; and whether anyone in the United States can explain why Europe’s Solvency II regulations are such a big deal.
Federal securities regulations tend to discourage public companies from talking much about their operations in the weeks leading up to earnings release season, and that heightens suspense about what the companies’ executives will say once earnings are out.
Here’s a look at the anticipated earnings release dates for some of the major issuers, which are all subject to change. Most of the issuers will stream the audio of conference calls with securities analysts on the investor relations sections of their websites shortly after they release their earnings. You can get information about how to listen to a company’s earnings call, either live or via a recording, by looking toward the bottom of the narrative section of a company’s earnings press release.
