Global Bankers Insurance in Discussions to Sell US Life Insurers

DURHAM, N.C. – Global Bankers Insurance Group LLC plans to sell its U.S. life insurance companies, the company said days after group owner Greg E. Lindberg was indicted on bribery charges.
The company has been in active discussion with potential acquirers, Global Banker said in a statement. It said a sale would be in the “best interests of the company, policyholders, partners and employees.”
Lindberg is one of four defendants who allegedly attempted to promise North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey millions of dollars in campaign contributions in return for removing the senior deputy commissioner who oversaw the regulation of Global Bankers.
