BofA’s Diversity Chief: Representation Doesn’t Mean You’re Inclusive

Bank of America’s top diversity and inclusion executive touted the bank’s recent transparency regarding representation, but noted that diversity doesn’t always translate to inclusion.
“Just because you have representation doesn’t mean you have an inclusive environment,” Cynthia Bowman, the bank’s chief diversity and inclusion and talent acquisition officer, said yesterday.
To succeed, diversity advocates need allies who act as “upstanders, not bystanders,” Bowman said.
