Principal Financial Group signals it will cut some Des Moines positions amid restructuring

Principal Financial Group is laying off some Des Moines workers as the company shutters some of its lines of business.
Principal issued a notice to the state last week, announcing plans to cut 25 positions by Oct. 11. The Des Moines-based financial services company, which employs about 6,300 workers in the metro, announced in June that it would stop selling fixed annuities and life insurance to individual customers.
