Job Description:

We’re actively seeking a talented modeler to join our Model Development team within the Consumer Markets Division Product Development department. This role can be on-site in Newport Beach, CA, hybrid, or 100% remote.
As a Sr. Actuarial Model Developer, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by working on actuarial model development life and annuity products. You will collaborate with pricing and research teams to provide cutting edge modeling and reporting capabilities. You will interact with software and data engineers, data scientists and actuarial professionals in your daily work.

How You’ll Contribute:
- Serve as one of stakeholders to effectively and efficiently perform Life & Annuity product modeling and processes.
- Serve as a key person to understand related regulatory and internal requirements for modeling purpose.
- Learn and apply knowledge of product specs to build/maintain the Turbo Actuary – a high speed and user-friendly C# based product Pricing system.
- Maintain, modify, validate, and explain the pricing models to the key stakeholders and users
- Maintain model release, meet model risk governance requirements, and update related documents.
- Collaborate with other modeling teams on methodology and technology. Validate Turbo Actuary model against Prophet model used in other areas for consistency
- Support pricing and research actuaries for competition analysis, profit study, product management, and speed to market.
- Provide training to model users
Model Development Environment:
- Visual Studio, C#, Excel
- We are open to new ideas and tools.
The experience you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or equivalent experience.
- Actuarial credential (ASA/FSA or Equivalent) or prior actuarial education desired but not required.
- 4+ years of experience in programming (life/annuity product related experience a plus)
- Must be detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong coding/programming skills and problem-solving mindset.

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$103,000.00 – $128,800.00 – $173,900.00
