Be kind.
September 10, 2024 by Sheryl J. Moore
I will never forget that day.
My neighbor said he was doing cartwheels in the back yard, and playing with the dogs an hour before he was found dead.
He complained to me that the kids at school were bullying him. He said they told him to “go to h*ll” because he was going to anyway…since he was gay.
So, he chose a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
My son, my first born, took his life 11 years ago.
I’ve done a lot of soul searching during that time, and I am convinced that I couldn’t have prevented his suicide. He had been writing about his plans for more than a year. Even had I stopped him on the night of July 27, he would have tried again later.
But, maybe I am wrong.
And because of that, I support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I just made a big donation, in the hopes that it will help to stop someone else from following in AJ’s footsteps.
Consider making a donation, if you have been touched by suicide, or if someone you know and love has been affected by it.

Be kind.
You never know what kind of day someone is having.
Remind those that you love that they are SO important to you.
