What I learned about life … and death

In the many grief pamphlets scattered across my house, I have read that the death of a spouse is one of the most devastating events a person can go through. It’s actually ranked the most stressful of losses on the scale of life events. And I believe it. My identity changed immediately as a widow, and I carry grief for myself, my husband Chris, our three children, and our family and friends. With that grief, I’ve also experienced thankfulness for the plans we’d put in place, gratefulness for every moment spent together and hopefulness for the future – however different that future now looks.
