Wink’s Moore on the Market: I was surprised by Daniel Getler, CFA‘s comment about the “unpopularity” of hybrid indices on annuities.

Of course, you have to take into context that he was discussing the first wave of hybrid indices, versus those that are available now.

And for what it is worth, Wink, Inc. shows that 27.5% of the $130 billion in indexed annuity sales in 2024 were allocated to a hybrid index.

By contrast, the S&P 500 index had 56.8% market share. -sjm
