What are the factors that set Bermuda apart as a re/insurance hub?

At the 2025 Bermuda Risk Summit, senior re/insurance executives spoke to ReInsurance Business about the myriad of factors that distinguish Bermuda as a hub for re/insurance talent and innovation.
Wink’s Moore on the Market: What makes Bermuda stand-out, as a reinsurance hub?
Well, some would say-
– They have perfected the captive insurer set-up;
– The significance of the Bermuda alternative capital;
– A constant and steady stream of evolution and innovation;
– World class regulatory framework;
– Access to talent/human capital;
– Regulatory environment (brings clarity and certainty);
– Strong relationships between industry, government, and regulators;
– Niche consultancies providing innovation;
– BMA’s ability to take a strong and robust regulatory environment and use it to create bespoke solutions to insurers; and
– The BMA has made it extremely easy for companies to set-up in such a government-restricted way.
(Many of the reasons that they cite as benefits, seem to be issues that are of concern to others.)
I know this video is primarily focused on the P&C market, but felt that the foundations of both markets are affected by Bermuda’s reinsurance business. -sjm
