October 8, 2025 by Karen Demasters
That is the conclusion of the Bank of America Study of Philanthropy, which was conducted in conjunction with the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and released today.
Total charitable contributions from affluent donors with more than $1 million of wealth have increased by more than 30% since 2015, and in 2024, giving by the affluent was 10 times higher than the levels for the general population. Affluent donors gave on average $25,509 annually in 2015, which increased to $33,291 in 2024. Although the amount increased, it did not keep up with inflation, according to the study.
