Applying for a job? If the CEO gives you instructions, follow them.
November 12, 2025 by Sheryl J. Moore
If you are in the market for a job, pay attention:
1. Send your resume in Adobe. Edited**Found out this may not be beneficial if not all applicant tracking systems can read a PDF.
(Not only does Word show who ACTUALLY drafted your resume, but PDFs are the cool kid when it comes to forwarding docs.)
2. Do NOT name your resume with the name of the company that you are applying with.
(Nothing says, “you’re not special,” like inferring that you are sending your credentials out to multiple companies.)
3. Ensure you have no typos or grammatical errors in your resume.
(No ifs, ands or buts here. Do it.)
4. If the CEO gives you instructions, follow them.
(This is a BIG shoutout to everyone who applied for my open position, and DM’d me, despite the fact that I specifically instructed qualified folks to contact me through email and NOT through DMs. If you cannot follow directions before I hire you, will you really be able to handle it once you are on board at Wink, Inc.?)
