‘Take this as a win’: NAIC creates new life insurance illustration group

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners is creating a new working group to address life insurance and annuity illustrations.
The aptly named Life Insurance and Annuities Illustrations Working Group will: “Evaluate concepts for improving life insurance and annuity illustrations and disclosures, and consider revisions to relevant NAIC models or develop other guidance where feasible and appropriate.”
Wink’s Moore on the Market: What has motivated the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) tp create a new illustration working group for life insurance and annuities?
I mean, I’m not going to knock it. (I’m not certain things will improve though, to be honest.)
The new working group will “Evaluate concepts for improving life insurance and annuity illustrations and disclosures, and consider revisions to relevant NAIC models or develop other guidance where feasible and appropriate.”
And they are reworking the Annuity Buyer’s Guide? I helped with that 13 years ago. I am shocked that they are being so reactive to the changes that have occurred in annuity products, since. -sjm
