Today, I celebrate this girl.

My heart.

My youngest daughter.

She was alone at home with AJ, when he took his life.

Instead of of letting her grief consume her, she instead channeled it into something positive.

She enlisted in the Iowa National Guard at age 17.

By 19, she was already a sergeant.

She bought her first home at the age of 22.

At 24 she became a police officer.

At 25, my sweet princess graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

Congratulations, you bad@ss, Leah. I love you. I couldn’t be more PROUD!  -sjm
