Agents Welcome the ‘Sizzle’ of Crypto Indexes in FIAs

Retail agents were pleased to see the release last month of two indexes with exposure to bitcoin connected to fixed-indexed annuities and said they expect the industry to release similar indexes in the future as consumers warm to the volatile asset class.

Fixed-indexed annuities, often considered a bastion of creativity among annuity product developers, come with about 200 different hybrid indexes, according to market tracker Wink.

Fixed-indexed annuity sales make up the second-largest product segment of the industry, according to Wink data. Third-quarter sales were $32.4 billion, down 12% from the year-ago period, Wink reported.
