I am in disbelief that it took some of these companies more than a year to comply with my requests

Remember my 69-year-old Dad, who is a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy? You will recall that he was confined to a nursing home because of his Alzheimer’s a year ago, in April.
Well, I have to thank #TheAlmightyNetwork. THANK YOU!
Because of all of you, I was able to get guardianship and conservatorship of my father, which was the path I had to take, given that he is past the point of being able to designate a Power of Attorney. (You lack the capacity to sign ANY paperwork, once you have been diagnosed with ALZ.)
So, yours truly has been responsible for Dad’s finances and health care for the past 13 months.
(Recall that I own three businesses, a non-profit, and a bed-and-breakfast. So, you know- one more thing wouldn’t kill me!)
The first order of business was recapturing tens of thousands of dollars that his “fiancée” stole from him.
Then, I had to get his cherry red 1994 Corvette up and running, as it was sitting on blocks in his “fiancée’s” garage. (Now, if I could just find a buyer…)
Thereafter, I had to get his Social Security payments, along with his pension distributions, directed to the nursing home.
Next, I had to pay all of my father’s debts and liquidate any remaining assets.

>>>>>>>>>>AND I JUST LIQUIDATED THE LAST ACCOUNT!<<<<<<<<<<
I am in disbelief that it took some of these companies more than a year to comply with my requests, but I am so relieved to be done with that part of this role. SO relieved!
I have his last bit of assets sitting on my desk, via uncashed checks. I am stressed because I have to keep him at less than $2,000.00 in assets at all times. I have purchased a pre-paid funeral, a dorm fridge, and paid his debts each month. I would love for a way to keep this last bit of money, so that I can continue to pay his monthly cell phone bills, as well as fund his Amazon habit (more on that, below).
I just wanted to update you all, as I could see that you wanted to help.
As for Dad’s condition- it is like anyone else’s, who is afflicted with ALZ. Some days are good (“Remember when I took you to Disneyland and…”) and some days are bad (“Remember when I used to milk the Holstein cows as a young boy?”). We are just taking it one day at a time!
And in the interim, my father is getting lemon Oreos and Coke Zero sent to him via Amazon once every couple of weeks. He says that he is happy, so that is what counts. And at least his little problem isn’t un-Godly expensive!
Thank you all so much for your earnest concern. The love that you share with me is amazing. Know that you are appreciated! -sjm
