How do you show your support for a spouse that is losing a parent?
You may have wondered what’s been up with my infrequent posts. I have news piled-up for days…well-
For the past 28 days, my mother-in-law (MIL) has been in a fight for her life.
She started at the hospital.
Was discharged.
Returned to the hospital.
Was transferred to a nursing home.
Returned to the hospital.
Is moving into my house.
My MIL has no long term care insurance and no life insurance. She lived for the day she was in; never planning ahead.
Today, she is at the end of her life.
She has not eaten a meal in over a month. She eats two bites of food a day, and only because The Hottest Man Alive is pushing her to. She has also not had a meaningful amount of water during the same period either.
I am certain that her days are numbered into the single digits.
I am visiting her, comforting her, and caring for her as much as I can.
That said, I could really use some ideas of what I could do to support my husband. I have never lived through the loss of a parent.
I am going to offer to take care of his mom for the entire day, once a week, just so he could get some rest.
What are some things you have done for your spouse, while they are dealing with such a loss?
