Regulators Consider Tougher Annuity Reinsurance Rules

State insurance regulators may soon curb annuity issuers’ use of reinsurers based in jurisdictions with capital rules that are much different from U.S. rules.
Officials at the Financial Condition Committee, an arm of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, talk about the project in a draft memorandum included in a new meeting packet.
