When Friends or Clients Die During the Pandemic

When people we know die, we react in certain ways. COVID-19 and the pandemic has sharply altered what we can do, but we shouldn’t let this stop us from making an effort. From a personal and business standpoint, you want to be there for your clients in their time of need.
This isn’t specifically about people falling victim to the coronavirus. Hopefully the statistics are right, fatalities will be small and the number of people recovering will be great. This is about people dying from many causes. According to the CDC, 29,000 — 59,000 people die from the flu each year. People succumb to heart conditions. They have aggressive cancers. They get into auto accidents. Death touches many people’s lives.
Why is it different now? Typically, there’s a funeral or memorial shortly afterwards. People visit the surviving family members. Funerals bring people together, although for sad reasons. Today, group gatherings are prohibited. Social distancing means we can’t hug and console them. You need to do something.
