  • North American Company Announces New Goldman Sachs Index

September 1, 2023 by North American Company for Life and Health Insurance

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today North American Company for Life and Health Insurance®, a member company of Sammons® Financial Group, announced a new crediting index sponsored by Goldman Sachs.

The Goldman Sachs Equity TimeX Index (the “Index”) offers exposure to the equity market while providing greater option-cost stability through volatility control and an excess return structure. The Index uses calendar-based signals and price patterns to dynamically adjust exposure to equities at a targeted volatility level of 10%. The Index is subject to servicing and rebalancing costs and a deduction rate that accrues daily is applied.

“We consistently listen to agents and advisors to deliver best-in-class solutions to meet the needs of today’s retirees and those facing retirement,” said Rob TeKolste, president of Sammons Independent Annuity Group. “We’re thrilled to offer the Goldman Sachs Index as a unique option for customers.”

The Goldman Sachs Equity TimeX Index is available on select fixed index annuities (FIAs) with Annual- and Two-Year Participation Rate crediting methods, including:

    • NAC VersaChoice, North American’s top-selling annuity product, is a modified single premium FIA offering accumulation potential while maintaining access to funds when they may be needed most.
    • Performance Choice® is a flexible premium deferred FIA designed for accumulation potential while helping protect from market volatility. Performance Choice is North American’s shortest duration accumulation annuity product.
    • North American Charter® Plus 10 & 14 are flexible premium FIAs that offer growth potential for retirement assets as well as protection from losses due to downside market fluctuations. Charter Plus offers an upfront premium bonus to jumpstart retirement savings.
    • Income Pay Pro is a modified single premium FIA offering guaranteed lifetime income and the potential to grow retirement savings. It’s a retirement “paycheck” to last a lifetime.
    • NAC BenefitSolutions® is a single premium FIA and benefit rider combination1 providing a single-benefit base and three key attributes: lifetime payments, a nursing home multiplier, and an enhanced death benefit1.

“Goldman Sachs is pleased the Goldman Sachs Equity TimeX Index will be made available to North American customers, and we are excited about working with their team,” said Pratik Pareek, Head of Insurance Equity Derivative Sales at Goldman Sachs.

Insurance products issued by North American Company for Life and Health Insurance®, West Des Moines, Iowa. Product and features/options may not be available in all states or appropriate for all clients. See product materials for further details, specific features/options, and limitations by product and state.

Premium bonus may vary by annuity product, premium band and surrender charge period selected and may be subject to a premium bonus recapture. Products that have premium bonuses may offer lower credited interest rates, lower index cap rates, lower participation rates and/or greater index margins than products that don’t offer a premium bonus. Over time and under certain scenarios the amount of the premium bonus may be offset by the lower credited interest rates, lower index cap rates, lower participation rates and/or greater index margins.

Fixed index annuities are not a direct investment in the stock market. They are long term insurance products with guarantees backed by the issuing company. They provide the potential for interest to be credited based in part on the performance of specific indices, without the risk of loss of premium due to market downturns or fluctuation. Although fixed index annuities guarantee no loss of premium due to market downturns, deductions from your accumulation value for optional benefit riders or strategy fees or charges associated with allocations to enhanced crediting methods could exceed interest credited to the accumulation value, which would result in loss of premium. They may not be appropriate for all clients. Interest credits to a fixed index annuity will not mirror the actual performance of the relevant index.

The term financial professional is not intended to imply engagement in an advisory business in which compensation is not related to sales. Financial professionals that are insurance licensed will be paid a commission on the sale of an insurance product.

1 The Benefit Rider includes a rider charge of 1.20% of Benefit Base, deducted as a partial surrender from the Accumulation Value. Alternative death benefit options are available. Lifetime income refers to guaranteed payment of Lifetime Payment Amounts (LPA’s) as defined in the Benefits Rider included in this contract. It does not refer to interest credited to the contract. Advise clients to consult with their own tax advisor regarding tax treatment of LPAs, which will vary according to individual circumstances. The Nursing Home Multiplier can be paid out for a maximum of five annual payments as long as the client continues to meet the requirements on each payment date. See the product brochure for further details and limitations. Rider death benefit includes option for 5 annual payments based on benefit base with 1-year waiting period (2-year in some states). Rider death benefit options vary by state. Additional death benefit and other features are explained in the product brochure and disclosure. For product materials, check for variations in your state.
