Vermont’s Insurance Commissioner Going to Private Sector; Deputy Promoted
Meg Green
MONTPELIER, Vt.
Vermont’s top insurance regulator is leaving next month to take a private sector job, and a deputy commissioner has been tapped to take her place, according to Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas.
Paulette Thabault, commissioner of Vermont’s Department of Banking, Securities and Health Care Administration, is leaving state government to take a position with CVS Caremark MinuteClinic.
Deputy Commissioner Mike Bertrand will be appointed commissioner when Thabault resigns in mid-June.
Bertrand has served in numerous positions in state government, including serving as deputy secretary of administration, commissioner of the department of labor and industry and as deputy legal counsel and special assistant to Douglas.
Attempts to reach Bertrand for comment were not immediately successful.
Douglas appointed Thabault to serve as commissioner in 2007 (BestWire, Jan. 5, 2007).
