Shannon Pike To Head FPA
January 18, 2017 by Financial Planning Association
DENVER (January 9, 2017) – A 20-year veteran of financial services and long-time volunteer leader, Shannon J. Pike, CFP® officially assumed the role of 2017 President of the Financial Planning Association®(FPA®) effective January 1.
In this important role Pike will be instrumental in working with the FPA Board of Directors, volunteer leaders across the country, and staff to advance the association and its role in serving the needs of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professionals.
With an eye on harnessing his passion for the financial planning profession and the important role volunteer leadership plays in FPA, Pike is focusing his efforts in 2017 on helping the association fully align and integrate its vast communities for the benefit of the members.
“FPA is unique in that it boasts so many communities that exist to engage and support CFP® professionals across the country,” says Pike. “Our nationwide network of chapters and state councils, our Knowledge Circles, our online community (FPA Connect), FPA NexGen®, major firms, and many others provide our members with a means to learn and share with one another. We have an opportunity to connect and integrate these communities and our content that will drive member engagement like never before.”
Pike is Vice President of Tanglewood Legacy Advisors, LLC in Houston, TX, an independent advisory firm that provides private wealth planning, investment strategies and exit planning services to entrepreneurs, executives and business owners. He began his volunteer leadership with the FPA of Houston chapter where he served as membership director, president and chair.
Additionally, Pike has served on several national task forces for FPA, including the Leadership Advisory Council, Practitioner Advisory Council and the Heart of Financial Planning Task Force. He also served as the 2011 chair of the FPA Chapter Leadership Advisory Council (CLAC), a volunteer group of former chapter presidents who worked to foster chapter leadership.
“I have long believed that our communities are the single greatest strength of our association. The work we have been doing, and will continue to do, to align and integrate them will serve our association and our members well as we truly create ‘OneFPA,’” added Pike. “OneFPA is not a marketing catch phrase, but a bold vision on how professional associations need to operate to thrive. I look forward to working with our volunteer leaders and staff this year and in the years ahead to make FPA the association that supports and advances the profession and all CFP® professionals.”
Pike holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in Consumer Economics with a concentration in financial planning, and a banking degree from the American Institute of Banking.
