A Boston man posing as his dead brother took out more than two dozen life insurance policies across the country, federal prosecutors charge in a case with Iowa ties.
Several insurers, including at least one in Iowa, aided in the case, the Iowa Insurance Division said in a news release.
Ming Xun Zheng, also known by the alias Kellerman Jason Zheng, was charged last week in Massachusetts federal court with one count each of mail fraud and wire fraud after he was accused of applying for more than $11.5 million in life insurance and accidental death coverage on behalf of his dead brother, according to a news release from the U.S. Justice Department.
Zheng, 33, has not entered a plea in the case, investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the FBI.
